The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it.

Whether you are just starting out or have been playing for years, there will be times where you will wish (or think) that you should be as good as "insert your favorite player's name here". We all go through that. However, the key to becoming the player you want to be is having the patience to stick with your practice sessions. In doing so, you are always improving - whether you care to admit it or not!
Learn to love practice ... After all, we love playing the guitar, right? What are you doing when you practice? Yes, you are PLAYING your guitar (or bass, or drums, or clarinet, or spoons, etc).
Have fun, keep practicing, and I'll see you at your lesson.

I'm having problems. I can't seem to remember to practice, even though I want to...I say to myself, 'today, I'm gonna practice!' but I always find myself distracted, and pulled away. I want a room with no distraction, but we don't have the money. And I still wanna do it, but I don't feel confident in myself. Lately, I feel like a loser. I have a lot of personal feelings getting in my way, I think. But do you have any tips to what I should do?

I've read time and time again that you have to do something 21 days in a row for it to become habit, meaning, after 21 days of consistent application, you seem to do it whether you're inclined to or not (much like my exercise routine!!!!)
Try this Chris - get a notebook or a calendar and for the next 2 weeks, write down a practice routine every day that will last 30 minutes. Make the routine fun, but challenging. If you need help there, let me know. Also, and this is the most important point, set a time that you are going to do it regardless of any other distractions (video games, TV, talking on the phone with friends, internet, etc). This time can be after dinner, after homework, after you get home from school and before homework, first thing in the morning before you go to school (yes, you'll have to get up a bit earlier to make this one work). Just make sure it is a time that you can meet each day.
By keeping it to 30 minutes, you are not away from the other things you want to do for that long. Secondly, there is a good chance that after the 30 minutes are up, you still play/practice after that.
Commit to do this for at least 2 weeks straight. After 2 weeks, I'm confident that you'll be a better player and your practice sessions will be more enjoyable

I can say it right now, I'm not ready for my lesson tomorrow. I don't know all the notes, I can't play one song, and I can't play the bass line full through. (My fingers slip at about 2 minutes into it) And I really felt like I could do it, but then when I tried, I found that I didn't get the right time in.
