Let me tell you about last night
So, I've set Sunday evening as my "review" and technique night. After the day's activities, and when the kids are near bed time, I'll hit technique and run through all my scales and arpeggios. Kind of a "get ready for the work week" activity.
I got 3 hours in last night from 9 p.m. - 12 a.m., and this is what I found. My arpeggios, while still familiar and under my fingers, have fallen behind my scales in my ability to pull them off at high tempos. In fact, running them at 110bpm (16th notes) i found several tripping points where my fingers just fumbled. So, I slowed everything down to 60-70 bpm, created repeating exercises for those trouble spots, and was able to get my tempo solid at 95bpm.
Since I'm taking my tempo down to 100 bpm for everything, I've got to put some extra time into the arps this week. I also have some angular technique studies that should help here.
Well, off to practice before my first lesson today. More to come.
