Practice Journal - Long Term Goals
Long Term Goals - End of Year 2007
1. Technique - Be able to pay 16th notes at 140 bpm with no tension in either arm. This includes both technical exercises and scales/arpeggios.
2. Improve sight reading abilities so that by end of year, I can read and play through any piece of music as easy as I can read text from a book.
3. Ear Training - 12 tone ascending/descending interval recognition within 3 octaves and maj/min/dom/alt dom/dim chord recognition, all inversions.
4. Repertoire - learn 1 jazz tune and 1 pop/rock/metal tune each week for the next 7 months. EOY goal is to have a large enough repertoire to perform solo or accompany other players if requested.
5. Creativity and Songwriting - write 3 new songs by end of year. Styles TBD
So, here are my EOY goals for 2007. Reaching those goals will be the topic of my daily practice journal. Wish me luck!
