Starting the week sick - Something I ate on Memorial Day did not agree with me ... so I'm running slow today.

With that said, i'm not so bad off that I can't practice. The trick when you're sick is get in the right mind set. When all you would rather do is relax or sleep, force yourself to get in at least 10 minutes of focused practice. The chances are that after 10 minutes, you feel like going on, or at least noodling around with some of your favorite licks/riffs.

So, here are my weekly goals (or should that be "weakly" goals given my state? )
1. Key Center for week - A major
2. Technique - bump up to 102 bpm 16th notes for all exercises and scale work. At the end of last week, both arms were relaxed with no tension on the exercises that were up to tempo (arpeggios are still floating in the 90's).
3. Reading - work out of "Sight - Reading for Guitarists".
4. Ear Training - Ascending/Descending Intervals (all tones referenced to A) and chord recognition
5. "Amazing Grace" in A major - work out melody using all 5 pentatonic patterns. I have an idea for this and plan to develop it into one of my songs for the year. Thinking Steve Vai'ish without the monster chops LOL.
6. Arpeggio Review - continue to work arp's up to speed (Maj7, Min7, Dom7, Min7b5 and all inversions).
7. "Fall" - Wayne Shorter - continue with this tune as my soloing is not inspiring over these changes. Also, transpose to A major.

There they are - i'm going to try my best to hit all of them. If I don't, so what???

Working to improve your playing week over week is the goal, regardless of how much work you actually get in. Just focus on improving your self-discipline to play/practice every week with the goal of continual improvement.
