My daughter, Kennedy, signed up beginning band this year. She is in sixth grade and just started middle school. After the band director held the evaluation try-out (to determine the instrument you would play), she was offered the French Horn or the Clarinet.

Well, she picked the French Horn.

Now, if you've never heard the French Horn, or better yet, never heard a beginner play the French Horn, imagine a really large man eating a lot of mexican food ... I mean a lot!!! He may even drink a lot of soda to wash it down...

Anyway, their Christmas concert is tomorrow night and for the last week, she's been nervous about playing her first concert. So I pulled out the guitar ( because I sound like this playing the French Horn) and started working with her on reading the notes and getting the right pitches.

I heard her play the other night and she is really doing well. She is now starting to sound more like this ... ok, well maybe not that good, but a lot better! After all that's my baby I'm talking about !!!
