Jared Leto's GuitarSo, most of you know that I've mentioned on occasion that my wife loves her some Jared Leto. She also loves Thirty Seconds to Mars, but I think it's Leto first, Thirty Seconds to Mars second.

I can't see why, but hey, I'm a guy.

Anyway, my wife sends me a pic that she claims is Jared Leto's guitar.

I've never seen him play guitar, so I'm taking her word that this is his guitar.

What is that on the front, a Unicorn? LOL

J/k Julie - I know it's not a Unicorn - it's a sweet little bunny.

Your wife is right of course. Jared has two guitars of this design. They are custom made McSwain guitars.

The white one is called Pythagorus and the black is called Artemis

Just to educate you on one of the greatest bands to date, for most shows, Leto uses either one of 2 custom-made Steve McSwain guitars, both called "The Pythagoras". The guitars— identical except that one is black and the other white—have the image of a gryphon, not a unicorn, which he drew for McSwain.
And of course the band comes first"Provehito in altum".

I just recently sent an email to McSwain guitars enquiring about the custom guitars made for Jared, and this was his reply:

    Hey Guys!

Sorry it's taken a little while to get back to you. We get so many emails each day about Jared's guitars that I have to wait and answer a bunch of you at one time! Jared and Stephen designed both the Pythagoras and the Artemis together. Stephen made and carved each guitar by hand. We are unable to duplicate them exactly for someone else, since Jared was the original client with his unique vision. If you were interested in something similar with your own design, that could be done, starting around $7000. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.

For the specific questions about the pickups, Stephen used Seymour Duncan Jeff Bec model for the Pythagorus, and Seymour Duncan Custom Custom for the Artemis.

Thank you so much for your interest!

So at least now we have an idea of about how much it would have cost him..

Cool - Not sure many people could swing 7 big ones for a guitar though.

Jared probably didn't pay that, one of the many perks of being a rock star.
