Guitar Hero at Little Rock JamsHey Everyone!

This is Trey, and I'll be taking care of all your Guitar Hero needs.

Every week, I'll post news, rumors, articles, success stories, etc. on all things Guitar Hero.

But first, a little about me...

While devoting most of my time to the real thing nowadays, I'll never forget my roots when I first strapped on that guitar of pure plastic rock, pressing those five buttons of pseudo-shredding madness to Free Bird and Jordan.

(oh, how I remember Jordan...)

But when you beat Guitar Hero III on Expert in one day, (yes, I sadly did) you realize that you really need to do something more constructive with your time, and at that point, I seriously started practicing the real thing.

Now, when I practice the real thing, I look at it as being a game you can never beat...

one you can always be better at...and want to be better at for the sake of personal satisfaction (and with any luck, a huge paycheck)!

Anyway, that's my drive to where I am now, and without further rambling we'll get on to what the post is supposed to be about anyways...

Let's start with some GH: Aerosmith news.

There has been some confusion that GH: Aerosmith is GH4, IT'S NOT!!!  Aerosmith is a side game, cash in, mostly marketing scheme meant for a quick buck before GH4, much like Rocks the 80's was.  Now, I haven't played the game, it could be very good! But looking at it, is seems to me that Aerosmith will have to be one of your favorite bands to truly get the money's worth.

The game is meant to chronicle the band when they first started out to the mainstream success they have now, with all the band problems along the way that they had being included in the story, which unfolds GH3esque and with the band being made cartoons.

The game play revolves around the set list, being made to be like an Aerosmith concert, warm-up bands and everything.  For instance, Let's take the third tier.  The third tier would be two songs by two bands other than Aerosmith, which makes the first two on the tier.  The last three songs and encore song would be all Aerosmith songs.  All the tiers are like this, so expect a fair portion of Aerosmith songs.  Like I said, it seems to me to just be an o.k. game, but we'll find out in an upcoming review.

In the meantime, go ahead and enjoy this preview! (yay?!?)

Next week, I'll have the motherload of information: GH4

Will it surpass Rock Band in terms of innovation? All signs point to yes.

The whole Guitar Hero concept is totally new to me, thanks for informing. Sounds like it could get your chops up pretty quick and be fun.

I guess a lot of things are like a game you can never beat, eh? Sometimes you have to just make your peace with them and go out for a nice walk in the woods followed by a coffee and a donut.

I did read once that shredding for the sake of shredding is kinda like seeing who can grow a 1500 lb pumpkin (or something like that,) and I tend to agree in a general sense. Shredding with melody rocks, tho, in my humble and perhaps not completely informed opinion. I guess if the music moves me, I like it. Something with that je-ne-sais-quoi will always rise to the top.

    Anyway, blog on!
