Guitar Hero at Little Rock JamsPost by Guitar Hero and future guitar god - Trey

Sorry, last week I made a mistake. Guitar Hero IV is actually Guitar Hero: World Tour

That said, GH: On Tour still exists, but I'm not all that giddy about it so far.

Several of you will be happy to know that Activision is finally taking their popular franchise to the handheld field, namely the Nintendo DS

How do you play it without frets, you ask?  There is a connector with four (Yes, four, not five) buttons that serve as the frets that connects to the GBA slot on your DS, along with a custom stylus that looks like a pick so that you can strum on the touch screen. (the whammy effects are also on the screen when you play, you just wiggle the whammy bar).

The highlight of the game looks to be the multi-player, with the battle mode from GH III ported over to be designed around the stylus capabilities.  For instance, instead of the simple make-seeing-the-note-harder power-ups, you'll get power-ups that force your opponent to blow into the DS microphone and put the fire on their guitar out.  Another will force them to sign their signature on a t-shirt that blocks the notes until they do.  Then of course you have the lefty-flip and all that other jazz.

Now, here is what get's me iffy on wondering if I'll like the game.  Just look at the set list below.

The game will boast a whopping 25 songs in the set list, this is just the song list so far.  As you can see, the song list is not bad, but personally I've just heard these songs so much and to the point I really don't care to much for them.

Allstar, by Smash Mouth? Jeez, I've never heard that before.

Anyway, it goes back to the same thing with GH: Aerosmith, you may really like this game, but personally this doesn't do much for me.  In the mean time, here is the promo video for the game, which I really don't know whether to laugh or cry at.

Oh, and Star Power? Just watch...

I actually was enjoying it for the first few seconds, then he did the whammy part, and it pretty much went downhill from there... In the least it's entertaining the whole way through though.

Thanks for reading by the way!

Yea, my son figured out the difference as soon as I showed him your post. We aren't too interested in OT, just waiting for fall for World Tour.

Very interesting setlist. It really doesn't sparkle out at me and make me excited for the next guitar hero, however. I remember reading the guitar hero 3 setlist online with excitement...not so much with this one. Hopefully the songs will improve, and maybe get some more recent songs.

They still have a few more songs to reveal, but I think this ship is as good as sunk so far.
