Well, you can still do that if you want to, but now, you can also search Bandmix for like minded individuals who want to rule the world through your ROCK!
It's quick and free to sign up, enter your user profile and search for other musicians. You can also promote yourself and hit the forums for musician to musician talk on everything from rehearsals to groupies. LOL
There is a membership fee if you choose to contact other musicians via the website, however, I've found that you can pass on that and let other musicians contact you. I get several hits a week from my bandmix account asking if I am ready to rule the world.
Once someone contacts you, you're good to go on the back and forth that it takes to get together and jam.
Check it out, start a band and send us some free tickets to your first gig!

I've had a BandMix ad for a couple of years now. I've gotten a few auditions from it - only one from a band that I wanted to play with. But they didn't want me. [pout]
I think it's a really good resource for bands and musicians looking for each other. There are some flakes on there and not everybody puts their contact info, so sometimes not having the paid membership gets in the way.
