One of the great things about working at Little Rock Jams is the wealth of lesson material all the teachers have accumulated over the years.

In looking through David's books and worksheets from college, I found a quote that really stood out.

"The results of your practice sessions are directly related to the intensity of your focus"

There was no author stated, but whoever said it, hit the nail on the head.

When we practice, we have to stay actively engaged in the learning process. We have to think about what we're doing, how we're doing it, how we can do it better and analyze all the millions of other detail that go into improving as a player.

If you don't, and your mind wanders, you are just going through the motions. Worse, you are training your finger and ears to play sloppy. You don't want that now, do you?

So the next time you practice, be intense with your focus. When your mind wanders, reign it back in. If you can't, take a break and then come back to it fresh.
